(1) Quorum (= 7 voting Directors minimum, out of 13 total):

Directors present (9): Edwards, Connor, Banks, Meckes, Boeraeve, Sansome, Kohler, King, Ramsay

Directors absent (4)*: Pierce, Fox, Rogers, Sanders

(2) Tabled from December Board meeting – 

– Disposition of $4201.79 surplus from Greenville conference in Oct-Nov 2025.

– MOTION by Boeraeve (second: Kohler): Surplus funds from the 2025 ABS Conference shall be deposited into the ABS operating account.

– Amendment to the motion by King (second: Kohler): This shall apply to future ABS-organized event surpluses as well.

– The amended motion carried unanimously.

 

(3) Ned Jaquith Foundation requested the contact information of ABS Commercial members as part of NJF fundraising efforts. The Board agreed, by consensus, not to release the information since to do so would require obtaining individual member permission. In any case, these members’ logos are publicly posted on bamboo.org. King will let Susanne Lucas know the Board’s decision.

 

(4) Species Source List (SSL) –

– Slow progress, but currently doing the layout.

 

(5) Arts/Crafts (Banks) – Landy will meet soon with contacts to attempt to restart the ABS A&C program.

 

(6) ABS Conference 2026 (Meckes) –

– Dates are 15.Oct (Thursday) through 18.Oct (Sunday).

– Speakers are being recruited, especially on the topic of permaculture.

– The meeting hotel arrangements are being finalized.

 

(7) Advertising in ABS Publications (Ramsay) – Some has been organized through the bamboo co-op but no other activity to report.

 

(8) Grants to ABS (Ramsay) – Deferred until the next Board meeting for lack of time. Interim research into various ramifications is needed and several aspects clarified.
