The Annual American Bamboo Society Auction will ‘culminate’ with a LIVE auction on September 13, 2014 at Huntington Botanical Garden. There will also be a silent auction. The silent auction will begin on Friday, September 12 and will end before the live auction begins. Funds raised at the auctions will fund research, grants and education at the determination of Board of Directors of the American Bamboo Society in accordance with the objectives and purposes of the ABS as stated in the ABS Bylaws, Article II.
Prior to the live auction — there will be an online auction. The online auction will begin on August 24, 2014 and run till September 6th and can be viewed at http://bambooweb.info/ABSauction/. The online auction is designed for everyone but is especially great for people who are not physically able attend the live auction. Donors will ship items directly to the winners. All items in the online auction will continue to be bid on at the live auction and pictures will be projected on a large screen as each item is placed for final bids. Online bidders can appoint a proxy to continue bidding on items at the live auction if they wish to do so. The auction plants will be viewable starting in August at http://bambooweb.info/ABSauction/as donations come in.
If you would like to contribute and add your item to the online auction or the live and silent auction – please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
The following information is what we’ll need for any donations for the on-line auction.
1) Photos of the actual plant or one of approximate size. (Marked ‘Actual’ or ‘Approximate’) A ruler next to the plant will help the buyer judge the size. Photos or links to photos of the full-grown plant. These can be from the donor or http://bambooweb.info. Photos can be any size and we will resize to fit on the auction site. Non plant items are also accepted for the online and live and silent auctions.
2) Information on the plant/or item. If there is information on the species list it will also be included.
a) Shipping information and any restrictions on where and when you can ship.
b) The price to ship to the lower 48 states. If no price is given the shipping cost is assumed to be the actual cost of shipping.
3) Value of the plant. The starting bid will be based off of this value.
4) Contact information for questions.
To help the integrity of the auction an effort will be made to verify the identity of the plant from the photo or other information from the donor.
Only plants and items that are in the online auction can be shipped.
All information and photos for the online auction should be submitted before August 17th to allow time to process the information and posting them to the auction site. Please try and donate early so there is not a big rush at the deadline. Please send the information to email@example.com
