HCABS ANNUAL MEETING
January 18th, 2014 at 12:00, noon
Location: Wailoa River Park in Hilo , #3 pavilion
Directions: Get on Manono, then turn north on Piilani (towards the Waiakea Pond). Follow Piilani for a couple of blocks to Park Rd. Turn right. #3 pavillion is right at the end of Park Road, beside the Wailoa River.
Our meeting will start with a potluck at noon . The club will provide plates, cutlery, napkins & glasses.
* * * Please bring lunch type food to share and your own beverage.
After lunch there will be the elections for 2014 then a short demonstration of a propagation technique for small circumference bamboo culms. Weather permitting we will also go across the highway to Liliuokalani Gardens to see the bamboos they have there and to possibly learn of ways we can help them maintain their bamboo plantings. I know there is a Vittata that is much in need of thinning so here is also a possible source of some growing stock. For some bright color in your garden this bamboo will provide beautiful yellow culms with green stripes. It is nice as an ornamental but will not provide strength for other uses.
